FAQs
Tween Talks is designed for middle schoolers 11-13 years of age
How can I sign my child up for a peer support group?
All participants must first book a free phone consultation with one of our group leaders to ensure that a group environment is a good fit. Once the consultation is complete, you will receive more information about registering your child for the group
The group is a structured, 8-week course of 90 minute sessions. The cost is $35/session, with the expectation that group members will attend all sessions. The fee of $280 must be paid upfront, and insurance is not accepted. Alternative funding sources, such as CSB or social services, are accepted.
In order to foster strong peer connections, no grown-ups (other than the group leaders) are allowed! Any parents or guardians who are interested in resources about a particular topic are welcome to reach out to the group leaders for more support.
What measures do you take to ensure the safety and privacy of group sessions?
Safety and privacy are our top priorities. At the beginning of the group, the leaders will review confidentiality and establish ground rules with all participants. If there is concern for a child's safety, their parent or guardian will be notified immediately.
Topics may include healthy relationships, boundaries, self-esteem, assertive communication, emotional regulation, anxiety, body image and more. However, the group leaders like to allow space for participants to bring forward topics that they feel are important to discuss, as well!
